Open drawer with labeled folders; "CROUSE ESTATE" is visible. A folder marked "CONFIDENTIAL" suggests secrecy. Dimly lit setting.

Document Discovery

A hidden section of Hal Crouse’s will surfaced during probate review.

  • If Ray was cut out, Martha regained partial ownership of the dairy.

  • The clause was buried in legal fine print, overlooked until now.

Motive Shift

  • Martha stood to benefit directly from Hal’s death.

  • Ownership meant leverage, money, and control she’d lost years ago.

  • But the will’s language suggests someone knew this clause existed—and used it.

Investigator’s Note

Martha’s motive is clear. But motive doesn’t equal murder. The killer may have been nudged, manipulated, or promised something they couldn’t refuse. Someone swung the pitchfork, but someone else may have steered their hand.
